Itinerary:
Day 1
Proceed to Ipoh via the North South Highway. Good Toll Free Roads, Cheap Shopping and Ipoh Hor-Fun...here we come!!
Meet at 7am at the Gelang Patah Esso Station about 2 km after the Malaysian side of the 2nd link at Tuas with as little fuel as possible.
Buy a toll coupon for S$0.50 at the toll coupon sales booth along the Ayer Rajah Expressway just before the Tuas Checkpoint. Buy two. One for going and another for the return trip.
Prepare RM1.00 for the toll at the Johor end. This you will have to pay after clearing immigration and customs.
At the Malaysian immigration checkpoint, you will be required to fill up 2 forms. One white immigration one and another blue money declaration form. It will be a good idea to collect some more of these forms from the immigration counter for your next trip.
Head down to the Esso station at the Gelang Patah R&R along the highway to top up fuel and rendevous with the rest of the group. Fuel in Malaysia costs about RM1.15 per litre, unleaded.
Proceed towards the North South Highway and head for KL. Exit at Yong Peng and stop at Yong Peng town for breakfast. ETA 8.30am. Noddles RM2.00, teh tarik RM1.00
After breakfast proceed towards Ayer Keroh R&R along the North South Highway and stop there for fuel top up. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Proceed to KL, Concord hotel for lunch at Hard Rock Caf?on Jalan Ampang. After lunch, top up fuel in KL and head for the North South Highway again. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Proceed towards Ipoh on the North South Highway, stopping at Tapah R&R for fuel top up. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Proceed towards Ipoh along the highway and exit at the Ipoh Selatan turn off. In Ipoh, proceed to either Merloon Hotel, Ritz Kowloon Hotel or the Hotel Mikado. ETA 4.30pm. All hotels priced below RM100 per room per night.
Check in hotel and head into town for dinner and night out.
Day 2
Ride to and check out Ipoh's attractions like Kellie's Castle and Buddhist temples set in limestone caves. We may have vegetarian food for lunch at the temple amongst lotus ponds. After lunch we will proceed to a hot spring where we can have a natural hot bath or sauna and linger for a while.
Refreshed, we will head for town to do some shopping followed by dinner at local hawker haunts. Post dinner activities will be up to you. Nightlife in Ipoh is abundant!
Day 3
Check out from hotel at 9am and top up fuel at Ipoh. Fuel cost about RM20.00. Get onto the North South Highway and proceed south towards KL.
Stop at Tapah R&R to top up fuel and break. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Proceed towards Seremban along the North South Highway, bypassing KL, via the KLIA highway. Stop at Denkil R&R for fuel stop and lunch. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Head south towards Malacca and exit at the Ayer Keroh turn off into Malacca. Head for Mahkota shopping centre for some food and last shopping binge. ETA 3pm.
Fully loaded with goodies, proceed towards JB on the North South Highway, stopping at Pagoh R&R for fuel and tummy top up. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Head for the second link, stopping at the Gelang Patah R&R for final fuel top up and to get rid of remaining ringgit. ETA 5pm. Fuel cost about RM15.00
Bid farewells, exchange phone numbers with fellow bikers, if you haven't done so, and clear the causeway for home.
